What is the Riverside Legacy Endowment?
The Riverside Legacy Endowment is a permanent fund established through the Community Foundation of Southeast Kansas to provide ongoing, reliable support for Riverside Park and Ralph Mitchell Zoo in Independence, Kansas.
Unlike one-time donations, every gift to this endowment is invested wisely and grows over time. Only a portion of the earnings (typically 4-5%) is granted annually, while the principal remains intact forever. This creates a true "gift that keeps giving" - ensuring steady funding for animal care, habitat enhancements, park maintenance, and the tools our dedicated staff need to do their best work.
